چکیده
Liquid water transport inside the gas diffusion layers (GDLs) plays a vital role in management of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). In this study, an improved pseudopotential multiphase lattice Boltzmann model is firstly developed to realize actual density and viscosity ratios porous media. The proposed based on non-orthogonal multiple-relaxation-time (MRT) LB new wettability boundary condition. terms relationship between capillary pressure Pc saturation s, shows good agreement with experimental data. Using validated model, effects pressures contact angles mixed liquid invasion process for Toray-090 GDLs two Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) contents (10 wt% 20 wt%) are studied. It found that fingering behaviors profiles along through-plane direction become more non-uniform increasing angle PTFE.

Lattice Boltzmann simulation of water and gas flow in porous gas diffusion layers in fuel cells reconstructed from micro-tomography
The porous gas diffusion layers (GDLs) are key components in hydrogen fuel cells. During their operation the cells produce water at the cathode, and to avoid flooding, the water has to be removed out of the cells. How to manage the water is therefore an important issue in fuel cell design. In this paper we investigated water flow in the GDLs using a combination of the lattice Boltzmann method a...

Water management in gas diffusion layer (GDL) and micro porous layer (MPL) poses a great impact on performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). And enhancement of the performance of fuel cells requires an appropriate water balance between the conservation of membrane humidity and the discharge of excess water produced in the cell. The Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) can enable mo...

The physical behavior of a class of mesoscopic models for multiphase flows is analyzed in details near interfaces. In particular, an extended pseudopotential method is developed, which permits to tune the equation of state and surface tension independently of each other. The spurious velocity contributions of this extended model are shown to vanish in the limit of high grid refinement and/or hi...
متن کاملA lattice Boltzmann model for coupled diffusion
Diffusion coupling between different chemical components can have significant effects on the distribution of chemical species and can affect the physico-chemical properties of their supporting medium. The coupling can arise from local electric charge conservation for ions or from bound components forming compounds. We present a new lattice Boltzmann model to account for the diffusive coupling b...

In recent years, the need for high efficiency and low emission power generation systems has made much attention to the use of fuel cell technology. The solid oxide fuel cells due to their high operating temperature (800 ℃ -1000 ℃) are suitable for power generation systems.Two-component gas flow (H2 and H2O) in the porous media of solid oxide fuel cell’s anode have been modeled via lattice Boltz...
